Welcome message from the Gala Chair

On behalf of the members of the Halifax Chapter of Les Marmitons International I wish you “Ciad Mìle Failte”…one hundred thousand welcomes…

For those who arrive early, the 2018 Gala begins on Thursday, June 28 with an optional “céilidh” or “kitchen party” – a rollicking good evening of song, dance, storytelling and, of course, great seafood and steak – at Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub!

The “official” opening of the Gala on Friday evening at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic will be a “Taste of Nova Scotia” culinary celebration featuring locally sourced delicacies and drink curated and prepared by the internationally renowned Chef Craig Flinn.

While hobnobbing with old and new friends, tapping your toes to a Celtic beat, and sipping and savouring at the Friday evening meet and greet, you can immerse yourself in Nova Scotia’s rich maritime heritage by exploring the Museum’s galleries and exhibits. From small craft boatbuilding to World War Convoys, the Days of Sail to the Age of Steam, the Titanic to the Halifax Explosion, discover the stories, events and people that have come to define Nova Scotia and our Eastern Seaboard’s relationship with the sea.

The International Gala “Order of Good Cheer” Dinner and Dance will be held on Saturday evening at the Delta Halifax. In keeping with the high standards set at previous Les Marmitons galas and by Marriott chefs worldwide, the dinner is guaranteed to be a feast for the senses and the soul.

On Sunday morning a closing breakfast will be served at the award-winning Harbour City Bar and Grill. After breakfast, guests are free to walk to the exciting “Canada Day” events on the Halifax waterfront, take in the Tattoo and fireworks later that day and perhaps even venture farther afield to enjoy some of the many fine diversions which, according to TripAdvisor, rank Halifax as one of top 10 Global ‘Destinations on the Rise’ in 2018.

See you on the Canada Day weekend at the end June. “Ciad Mìle Failte”…one hundred thousand welcomes…
